A swing vote on 3D printing
Swing Vote is a 3-meter tall, twitter-powered mechanical arm, co-commissioned by The Design Museum and the Dept. of Public Engagement and Learning at Houses of Parliament. It was realised as a prelude for the launch of the Design Museum’s latest exhibition, The Future is Here, and also toured through September as part of London Design Festival 2013.
It uses twitter to allow people to vote on the issue of 3D printing regulation in realtime. The votes then move a large mechanical arm on a physical installation. The final votes determine whether the swing arm has built up enough potential energy to stop a 3D printer.
